  • Christmas Inspired Wedding – Jenny & Nick

I am so excited to share Jenny and Nick’s Christmas inspired wedding with you all! It was a beautiful, chilly day just a week before Christmas. Lucky for us the rain held out and it was just gorgeous. Jenny was a very hands on bride, working closely with her florist for the perfect florals. She looked just breathtaking and classy in her wedding gown that she got from her friends bridal shop. Nick looked sharp in a classic suit and tie.

Jenny and Nick share a love for a lot of things including music, Harry Potter and their dear friends. When we first got to the Church, it was a bit misty and I was hoping it would clear up in time for some outdoor portraits – which it did. They had a beautiful church ceremony followed by a reception at Celebrations at the Resevoir in Moseley, VA. Celebrations was lit up with Christmas trees and light that gave off this glowing, intimate feeling. I can’t say enough about how gracious everyone was, not for me, but to be a part of this amazing celebration of these two people. It was such a wonderful way to wrap up my 2016 weddings. I am so thankful to have spent another year documenting the most important days of people’s lives.

Jenny and Nick, thank you so much for having me join in your day. I wish you so much happiness and joy for your future together.

  • A Northern Neck Wedding – Dean & Rachel

A Northern Neck Wedding – Dean & Rachel

Happy New Year! Wow, what a year 2016 was and how much I have to look forward to in 2017. I thought that I would go ahead and start the year off with a bang by sharing Dean & Rachel’s gorgeous December wedding in Kilmarnock, Virginia. When I first got Dean’s email about wedding photography, I was struck right away by how meaningful this day was going to be. They were to be married in the same place as Rachel’s parents were some years ago. Emotion and fun led the way for their day. Hanging out with them and their wedding party certainly brought a closeness that I even felt somehow a part of. But that’s how THEY are. They have a way about them that makes everyone feel so special to know them. Literally, to know them is to love them.

When we first got to Tide’s Inn for the getting ready portion of the day, Rachel beamed out with excitement to see me, although our only contact had been via facetime and email. She is a complete delight to be around. Dean and Rachel also traveled back to Virginia from their home in Nashville for the big day. I had already known this, but Rachel and Dean are musicians and it was evident throughout the day just how much that is their core.

Dean was calm and cool all day, and when I first saw him, he immediately asked me how Rachel was doing. It was so sincere, and that’s how he is. It always amazes me how much I learn about my couples just from spending their wedding days with them. It’s something I love doing so much, and am always so thankful for them opening up such a large part of themselves to me so that I can document it for them.

Rachel, Dean and the wedding party all got ready at The Tide’s Inn. It was followed by a beautiful church ceremony at Grace Episcopal Church and a fun reception at Indian Creek Country Club. There was no shortage of dancing, for obvious reasons and I remember snapping a photo of Rachel getting her dance on (see below) and she looked at me and said, “Liz, I can’t stop, I won’t stop,” and just danced her heart out with excitement and joy. Everyone was so warm and welcoming to Kele and I, and I will never forget it.

Dean and Rachel – you are surely a blessing not only to each other but to everyone who knows you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for opening up your day to me and letting me capture so many beautiful memories. All the love.

  • A Perfect Fall Wedding at West Manor Estate

When I first met Sarah and Brian earlier this year and they told me that they were planning a perfect Fall wedding at West Manor Estate, I was beyond excited. Except, that excitement grew even more when they asked me to be their wedding photographer! Not to mention, they are Carolina Panthers fans, so that was icing on the cake. They are a dream. When we got together for their engagement session in downtown Lynchburg, I started to see their love for myself. It’s so genuine and it’s so happy. They are two people you can just feel so deeply in your heart belong together. You walk away from them with a refreshed admiration for love and all that it is. I think I might sound a little mushy, but that’s the truth about them. So, we talked and Sarah planned and we got ready for this October wedding. We knew there might be some rain on the forecast, but nobody skipped a beat. The beautiful bridesmaids dresses were the perfect shade of ruby. We were able to find times to be outside when it was more misty and the ceremony went off without a hitch underneath the beautiful gazebo on the grounds. Surrounded by many amazing friends and family, Sarah and Brian had a perfect day with a fabulous reception where everyone got down on the dance floor (see below – seriously, some awesome dancers). It was so fun and before I knew it we were getting ready for their sparkler send off. I know that I told them so many times that night, but I’m going to say it one more time:

Sarah and Brian – thank you both for having me at your wedding. I adore you and your love. I wish you nothing but complete happiness for all your many years together. It was such a joy to witness and document your day!

P.S. Also – thank you two for the coca-cola at the end of the night. Made me smile so big.

  • A Beautiful Virginia Barn Wedding – Amy & Bill

On the first day of October, I got to spend the day with Amy and Bill at a beautiful Virginia Barn Wedding reception. Although they had chosen to be married out west, they had a fabulous reception to celebrate with family and friends and it was perfect. They shared in the day on their family farm that they both operate. It was just beautiful and there was so much land for us to go out and take photos. What I loved so much about this day was how authentic it is. It’s them. It’s their life and that is what I want to capture for my couples – who they really are. When Amy and Bill are together they are so connected and in tune with each other. I loved seeing the way he looked at her. His cowboy hat was one of my favorites. I especially loved when he walked over to her and swung her around. We were able to see the sun as it was setting and we walked out into the field for some beautiful sunset portraits of the two of them. I couldn’t have asked for better people to spend the day with.

Amy and Bill – thank you for letting me be a part of your day. It was such a joy.

  • A Gorgeous New Jersey Wedding – Dana & Jimmy

Weddings, you guys… I love them. And this was a good one. Two of the most real, down to earth, caring people I’ve had the chance to photograph. I had the privilege of traveling up for this gorgeous New Jersey wedding. Dana and Jimmy were exactly how you would want any of your best friends to be on their wedding day – who they are. I enjoyed being able to spend time with them and their families for this amazing celebration. The people, colors, dress, details, love, joy, perfection of this day could not have been better. Did I mention that Dana’s dress was so inspiring and so very perfect for her? Truly. It was.

Dana and Jimmy were married at The Riverview Inn in Pennsville, New Jersey. A beautiful venue on the river that overlooks the Delaware Memorial Bridge. It was a perfect backdrop for some of the portraits we took.  I think that the best thing about how genuine this day was, is that I came up to New Jersey from Lynchburg, Virginia and didn’t know so many of these people. I knew Dana and Jimmy and a few other guests, but every single person at this wedding opened up and let me photograph them to help tell more of Dana and Jimmy’s story.

The day started off in a hotel in Swedesboro, New Jersey and ended up at The Riverview Inn. Dana was so calm all day and just gave out this immense feeling of effortless grace and beauty, a day that was everything it was meant to be. It was complimented by Jimmy (and all his groomsmens) sense of humor and relaxed vibes. There was such an intense sense of family at this wedding. One that brought tears to my eyes more than once. The way that Jimmy looks at her, the way she laughs. They are perfect. Dana and Jimmy – you are so amazing and I can’t wait to see what else life holds for you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for opening up your life to me. It was such an amazing experience to document your wedding.
