  • A Gorgeous Greenhouse Wedding

It’s been forever since I’ve blogged… and some say that blogging is dead but I actually love seeing all the images from the day laid out in a good old-fashioned blog post. I’ve had such a busy fall that I’m finally getting a chance to go back through the year and relive all the amazing weddings I got to be a part of this year. This one was no exception!

An Intimate Lynchburg Wedding – From Greenhouse to Downtown

Rozalyn and Jason rocked their beautiful greenhouse wedding in Lynchburg, Virginia. I’ve missed living in Lynchburg at times because it truly is such a beautiful place and a wonderful place to raise a family. I enjoyed my many years there before returning to Virginia Beach. I was so happy when Rozalyn reached out about her wedding at The Vaughan House. It is a beautiful greenhouse out in Forest, Virginia owned by Megan and Mitch Vaughan. Getting ready at The Virginian Hotel is also my favorite!

It couldn’t have been more perfect for them, and I’m so happy to share some of my favorite images with you! Hoping I can keep up with the blogging because I have so many fabulous weddings to share!

  • A Fincastle Wedding – Mandy & Ryan

My first wedding of 2017 went off without a hitch with a Fincastle wedding at the Kyle House. It was absolutely beautiful. I knew it would be. Mandy and Ryan are just that. When I first got to hang out with them at their engagement session, it was so laid back and I loved getting to know them. Mandy constantly exudes a gratitude that is hard to describe. She is vibrant and loving, and Ryan is her perfect compliment with his genuine care about people.

I love my job, I love getting to know my couples. I also love when they realize I am a person too with a family and I think that is part of what I bring to the table in my business. Having lost my mom last month has really given me perspective on why I do what I do. When she passed, there were so many photos we spent time looking through. Such a beautiful documentation of the amazing life she lived and her story – and this post is not about my mom, but about what I realized in her final days – life passes, but we have this amazing opportunity to capture small moments in time. I want to bring that to every wedding I photograph. I want to bring my couples memories, stories and documentation that they have lived a full life.

A wedding day is one of the most magnificent and beautiful times in a family’s story. It deserves all the attention to detail, all the candid moments and all the realness that it is. I want my couples to be able to look back at when they started their lives together (officially). I photographed Mandy and Ryan’s wedding the day after we said our final goodbyes to mom, and for me that was amazing thing. To lose something and then realize all that I will gain in 2017 creating memories for people who are absolutely wonderful and deserving of these moments in their lives.

Mandy and Ryan – thank you. Thank you for being real. Thank you for being a blessing to me as the start of my 2017 wedding season.

  • A Perfect Fall Wedding at West Manor Estate

When I first met Sarah and Brian earlier this year and they told me that they were planning a perfect Fall wedding at West Manor Estate, I was beyond excited. Except, that excitement grew even more when they asked me to be their wedding photographer! Not to mention, they are Carolina Panthers fans, so that was icing on the cake. They are a dream. When we got together for their engagement session in downtown Lynchburg, I started to see their love for myself. It’s so genuine and it’s so happy. They are two people you can just feel so deeply in your heart belong together. You walk away from them with a refreshed admiration for love and all that it is. I think I might sound a little mushy, but that’s the truth about them. So, we talked and Sarah planned and we got ready for this October wedding. We knew there might be some rain on the forecast, but nobody skipped a beat. The beautiful bridesmaids dresses were the perfect shade of ruby. We were able to find times to be outside when it was more misty and the ceremony went off without a hitch underneath the beautiful gazebo on the grounds. Surrounded by many amazing friends and family, Sarah and Brian had a perfect day with a fabulous reception where everyone got down on the dance floor (see below – seriously, some awesome dancers). It was so fun and before I knew it we were getting ready for their sparkler send off. I know that I told them so many times that night, but I’m going to say it one more time:

Sarah and Brian – thank you both for having me at your wedding. I adore you and your love. I wish you nothing but complete happiness for all your many years together. It was such a joy to witness and document your day!

P.S. Also – thank you two for the coca-cola at the end of the night. Made me smile so big.

    Love in October

  • A Fairytale Wedding at West Manor Estate

    A Dream Wedding in Lynchburg

Today’s post is a bit overdue, but for good reason. I have been holding these images so close to me, I truly love them. Hand editing each one to bring it to life. To tell a story – their story. To give this beautiful couple memories of their wedding day. Being a part of Victoria and Christian’s wedding at West Manor Estate was nothing short of amazing. To be surrounded by such loving and gracious people is a true joy. Not a detail was missed and they were perfect.

Victoria’s dream wedding came to life with her own personal style on everything. It truly was a fairytale. This beautiful July wedding is one I will love for some time. Going through the images was such a delight. I truly feel like they tell a story. I’ve never had a gallery that had so many strong black and white conversions… and we all know I’m obsessed with black and white. They are dramatic and purposeful. Choosing images for this blog post was a task because everything was tied together so perfectly, it made it hard to select which images to show. Surrounded by family and friends with such a strong faith that had traveled from all over to celebrate their day with them. Her father walked her down the aisle and also married them. The mint dresses with deep purple accents was a gorgeous color palette to photograph.I honestly can’t say enough about how amazing everyone was.

Victoria and Christian – thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with your day. Your love for each other is evident. Witnessing not only the joy you bring to each other but the joy you bring to your parents and family is incredible. I can only imagine your life’s journey together will be a true love story.
