I’m really excited to share a beautiful Richmond wedding with you all. I feel as thought I haven’t blogged in forever, and this is a beautiful wedding to pick it back up with. Phew. What can I say? Caroline and Ed had the most gorgeous September wedding at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. Anytime I get to go up to Richmond for a wedding, I am so excited. This day was so effortless because Caroline did an amazing job covering every aspect of her day.

When I first met up with Caroline and Ed in person, we basically tried to take on hurricane force winds at their engagement session. We tackled D.C. the best we could, but had to cut it short because the wind was just crazy. It’s the only time I’ve ever had to cut a session short. Then, I got home and uploaded the photos and realized that we got some of the most amazing shots in that short time we spent together in Washington, D.C. It ended up being absolutely perfect.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day. I have always loved traveling over to Richmond from Lynchburg. It’s nice to get in a different environment and experience new things. Their day started at the hotel as they got ready and then they had a beautiful ceremony at Sacred Heart Cathedral. The party continued on at The Jefferson in the Empire Ballroom. Leap AV did an amazing job lighting the reception space. It was so fun seeing Caroline and Ed coming into their party and see how beautifully everything had been lit.

The party carried on into the night. It included more entertainment than to be expected. During the bouquet and garter toss, a groomsmen got iced (see below!!). They had giant glow sticks that were probably more fun to guests than they intended them to be. It was awesome. It was the party of all parties. A perfect Virginia wedding. They finished their night up at The Graduate for the after party. Ed walked over in his slippers… a great end to the night and start of their married life.

Caroline and Edwin – Thank you. If your families alone spoke for you – you are in the highest of places. You are both so kind, genuine, and down to earth. I am so excited for everything ahead of you. A life of your dreams. I loved spending the day with your family, friends, and YOU. Thank you for having me be a small part of your day.

In early September, two of the best people were married in a Columbus, Ohio wedding. Meganne and Elliott officially became Mr. and Mrs. Thaxton! Traveling up from Virginia to Ohio was fun. I had never been to Columbus before and I was so amazed at all it had to offer.

Meganne and Elliott share a love for all things Dave Matthews, their pups, and so much more. They celebrated at a beautiful venue called VUE Columbus. It offered beautiful natural light and a room with hanging greens and beautiful large garage style window. Surrounded by family and friends, Meganne’s mom was the officiant for the ceremony. She held back tears at some points. I am not sure how she managed to keep it together, I know she was so proud to see her baby girl marry such a wonderful man.

Thank you, Meganne and Elliott for allowing me to be part of your day. The memories will last forever. Can’t wait to see everything the future holds for you both.

After spending most of the year traveling all over Virginia, I was so happy to be a part of this beautiful wedding at The Lodge at Charlemont in Goode, VA. Marion and Alex were so down to earth and fun. Marion is originally from France so it was a real treat to be able to listen to her family and friends from over seas talking all day. It also made me realize that my five years of French served mainly the purpose of understanding small bits and pieces. It was a beautiful day in August at the Lodge. Entwined Events pitched a beautiful tent in the backyard and everything came together so seamlessly. The sense of family and belonging on this day was so authentic and sincere. Definitely my style.

Their theme for the day was travel. They had people from all around traveling to their wonderful celebration. There was a huge world map at the entrance where people were able to put a pin in from where they were from. I kept going back to it throughout the day to check in and see all the pins added. It was really awesome. The Lodge is absolutely beautiful and tucked down a road just outside of Lynchburg. It offered amazing light! Alex and Marion had a relaxed day where they actually got ready with only each other. Marion’s niece frequently was found playing the piano throughout the earlier part of the day and that was so enjoyable. There were lots of families that came and after the ceremony everyone was able to play in some backyard games. There was one really intense game of big jenga! See below! It was so heart warming to see how all the kids flooded to both Marion and Alex all day long.

I can’t wait until I get to see them again in November for another session we will be doing together. Thank you to Marion and Alex and your wonderful families for making me feel so at home on this day.

I first connected with Adam & Bailey last summer and listened intently as they told me all about their Wintergreen Wedding planned for July. I loved hearing about everything that had in mind, including a gorgeous horse drawn carriage. Bailey planned the perfect day for their July wedding. July weather in Virginia can be a real doozy, but at Wintergreen, on the top of the mountain, it was absolutely beautiful. It was really just an honor to take in the view itself, not to mention to be there for this wedding.

The scene at Wintergreen’s overlook is nothing short of amazing. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, it is a beautiful resort all year round. I love being a wedding photographer in Virginia. We’ve got the ocean, the mountains, and everything in between. Bailey is a teacher and I can only imagine how lucky her students are to have someone that loving and fun with them everyday at school. The way Adam looks at her and talks about her is like a dream. They are the perfect mix of a couple. Both their families and friends surrounded them with so much love and joy for their wedding day.

They danced the night away and it was a perfect end to the day. I’m not sure anyone stopped smiling and laughing all day. I know I say it all the time, but I am not without the knowledge that I have the best, I mean BEST people to work with. I loved this day.

To Adam and Bailey and all the Collie and Learn families – thank you for having me, and thank you for being such a wonderful group of people to spend the day with.

I’m so excited to be sharing this gorgeous beach wedding with you all! It was a gorgeous June day in Delaware for Stick and Tina! Surrounded by family and friends, these two got married at a perfect beach ceremony.

You see, I got to know Stick when we were coaching field hockey together at Lynchburg College. We immediately hit it off, she is so easy to get along with and we loved what we were doing – coaching some amazing young women at a sport we grew up playing ourselves. Throughout that time at Lynchburg College, I also go to know Tina. Tina is quite possibly the sweetest person I know and the two of them together are a perfect match. When we’d travel for games, I got to see a lot of Stick’s family who is very close and I enjoyed seeing them at many of our Delaware and Pennsylvania games.

When Stick and Tina got engaged, I was absolutely ecstatic for them. They’ve been together for so many years and I was so happy they were tying the knot! To be there for their wedding day surrounded by so many amazing people (and I got to see some of my hockey girls), was such an honor. I love being around them. Hanging around them is to be happy and to laugh. They have a super special love for animals and they were joined for part of the day by their four doggies. We also got to go out to the beach as the sun was dropping and do a few portraits of the two of them and that was amazing. There were so many special things about this day and I love that. Tina and Stick planned a perfect wedding and I am so thankful to have been a part of it.

To my friends – Stick and Tina, I love you, I am thankful to know you and have you in our lives. The best is yet to come! I’m excited for all your new adventures back in Virginia!
